The opportunity of learning all about ponies and having fun riding them is bought about in the Pony Club Centre Scheme. Apollo Stables has on average 40 Pony Club members; these are riders who ride weekly and love ponies.
Club Member get to progress through efficency tests and are awarded acheivement badges at our regular Pony Club Rally. These rallies are held throughout the year, starting in the February Half Term and then Easter holidays. We then hold rallies on arraged sundays and Pony Club Camo in July is a highlight of the Pony Club calender.
During rallies, riders get put into coloured rides, of other riders in the same ability/age range. They get dressed up in their Pony Club uniform (see what to wear on the Pony Club Rally Sheet) and get judged on their turnout, shiny boots, tie tie pin, gloves etc. All of which makes good grounding for a future with horses. We aim to encourage the children to take pride in their appearance and promote independence and confidence; good life skills.
The rally format normally starts with hands on with the ponies, catching in from fields, grooming, feedind, watering. Giving the children and idea of what its like owning their own pony. Then break time and it's back to tacking up and then riding for an hour. Working on correct riding and having lots of fun with their friends on horseback.
Then its put the ponies away for a rest while the riders take their lunch break and get to have a run around and play with their frinds for some chill out socail time. Then after lunch, its time to work on a badge. There are sooo many badges to work on.Starting with the easier mini badges for the tiny tots, progressing through to the more challenging badges for the older purple ride.
We announce the dates of the rallies at the beginning of the year, they normally begin around 10am, finishing around 3pm. For events of this nature we recommend joining us on Facebook so you can stay up-to-date with details on all kinds of Pony Club activity.
